Mini-grants awarded to communities
We are pleased to announce that we have awarded mini-grants to communities in Fairfax County to help with professional invasives removal services. The main goal of these grants is to help jump-start a long-term invasive plant management plan by these communities, though a couple of the communities were already well on their way in that regard. A total of $30,000 was distributed from a reimbursement grant that we received from the Virginia Department of Forestry for PRISMs.
November 2025 Week of Action
Fairfax Tree Rescuers PRISM (Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management) got off to a high-impact start with its inaugural Week of Action from November 8-16. During this week, 486 volunteers rescued 1518 trees at 26 events across Fairfax County. Whether the events drew 40 people or a small-but-mighty four, we were able to share our mission, educate people about the threat invasive species pose to our ecosystems, have some fun, and most importantly, SAVE TREES!
